India jumps to overall rank 6 in Commonwealth Games, Weightlifter Jeremy fetches 2nd gold for the country

19-year-old weightlifter Jeremy Larinnunga has won second gold medal for India after he lifted a total of 300kg under men's 67 kg Snatch event with best lifts of 140 kg and 160kg in Clean & Jerk event at the Commonwealth Games 2022.

Jeremy's gold has placed India at 6th place in the medal tally with a total of 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal making the total tally of 5 overall medals.

The first gold was clinched by Mirabai Chanu in the women's 49kg weight lifting event. Two Silver were won by Sanket Sargar in Men's and Bindyarani Devi in women's 55kg weight lifting event whereas Gururaja Poojary secured bronze in men's 61kg category.
