Following unruly behavior in the house of state legislature, six Congressmen stand tagged as "snatched away candidates" as their membership met an unexpected result, as announced by Honorable speaker Kuldeep Pathania on Thursday.
Namely Rajinder Rana, Sudhir Sharma, Inder Lakhanpal, Devinder Kumar, Ravi Thakur, and Chetanya Sharma. Convicting the members under the heads of anti defection law, Speaker confirmed the charges of cancellation of membership. Further highlighting around the main issue, the speaker emphasised violation of party whip by members, leading to such a stringent action. While expressing his discontentment with their actions, the speaker quoted " I am giving this decision not as a Chairman but as a tribunal judge.Six MLAs contested elections from Congress party and got the provisions of anti defection law imposed on themselves. Complaint was made about it. Senior lawyers from Supreme Court and High Court appeared from both the sides.
The arguments were heard from both the sides in detail. I have given my decision on this in 30 pages. When the party issues a whip, they violated it. Therefore, their membership stands cancelled with immediate effect."
Amidst the already ensued political crisis that is being witnessed by many, this political shock bomb is no less than harm in form of political penalty. The question still sustains. Will this reduce the crisis of Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu? The evolution in majority number surely points towards a predictable answer but suspense still remains.
