In a groundbreaking development at Panjab University, the issue of Menstruation Leave has taken center stage as the Vice Chancellor forms a committee to discuss its implementation.
The move towards addressing this critical matter has been a long-standing one, with Menstruation Leave being a focal point during the PUCSC 2023 elections for NSUI party.
Scheduled to commence discussions in January 2024, the committee's deliberations align with the broader national dialogue on menstrual health.
Issue got more limelight after the statement of Union Minister Smriti Irani that Mensturation is not a handicaped. After that NSUI party in leadership of PUCSC president also held a press conference and made a promise with the students that they anyhow implement this leave as this is matter of concern.
Now, with the formation of a dedicated committee, there is a tangible sense of progress. Many are optimistic that January 2024 might see the green flag for this progressive policy.
