Menstruation Leave meeting Into a Conflict Game: Council Vice President and General Secretary Opposed the Leave Proposal along with authorities denied for the time being
Today's menstruation leave meeting took an unexpected turn when, on one side, PUCSC President Jatinder Singh was hoping to fulfill one of the major promises he made during the elections. In the meeting ,Vice President Ranmeekjot Kaur and General Secretary Deepak Goyat opposed the proposal, arguing that students already have a 25% margin in 75% compulsory attendance if they feel unwell.
As per Deepak, authorities expressed her opposition, questioning the validity of supporting documents. Question regarding this is also raised that 2 lectures per month means 10% attendance which is way too much.
Both members suggested focusing on sanitation vending machines and improving medication facilities in hostels and departments instead of implementing leaves.
The meeting reportedly escalated into a heated argument, with Jatinder Singh and Joint Secretary Gaurav Chahal strongly criticizing other council members.
After the meeting, Jatinder Singh released a video and declared their determination to implement menstruation leave and threatened that until then, PUCSC would not organize any events or festivals in the University.
