"We already have started the work on 6G and have made a huge progress with 4G and 5G' says union minister of Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, while indicating the opportunity for Indian leadership for setting a direction towards 6G technology for the world. "We should make use of our global standing as a nation of talents" quoted Mr. Vaishnaw.
He also highlighted that the center is looking for ways to promote a regulatory structure that facilitates development of technologies and interactions with the industrial sector as partners and not only as advisors by improving legal structures, execution structures and the thought process of parties involved. While addressing the inauguration of TDSAT seminar, he said that due to insufficient values of some individuals, situations were created where the telecom market was put to shame in the past.
Mr. Vaishnaw commented that a consortium of 11 institutions which includes IIT Chennai, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IISc Bangalore has come up with a 4G technology in only 14 months at the expense of near about USD 30 million which is a relatively smaller cost than the one utilized by dominant players in the telecom sector.
Around 35 Indian telecom companies are now planning to export their products to foreign countries and almost every important study group for future development of 5G and 6G under the International Telecommunications Union are now being chaired by Indian delegates.
