More than 5 Lakh challans this year through CCTV cameras in Chandigarh city. 285 locations in Chandigarh are being recorded on real time basis . About 250 cases solved with help of these cameras in past 7 months.
A number of locations in the city are being monitored on a real time basis via command and control centre through which challans are issued. The locations include intersections, government schools, entry and exit points, water-treatment facilities, parking lots, hospital entrances, gardens etc.
However these CCTV surveillance is of great use as it assisted the police in solving more than 250 cases in 7 months , including murder, theft , accident and many more.
From December 2022, 79% cameras were working within the maintenance range, 20% outside the maintenance range and only 1% had limited availability due to works such as junction improvement, civil repairs, school building renovation, power cable repairs etc. After stabilization cameras are working at efficiency more than 97%.
