Panjab University receives a High Court notification about "Violations" in recruitment
In a recent legal development, Dr. Sandeep Kumar has filed a case against Panjab University, Chandigarh, and others. The petitioner's counsel, Mr. Gurinder Singh Dhot, argued for filling 18 Assistant Professor positions, violates UGC directions.
A notice has been issued by Justice Sanjay Vashishth of the Punjab and Haryana High court to PU on a petition alleging violation of University Grants Commision (UGC) directions in the recruitment process for assistant professors.
At the Union Government level OBC reservation is 27% and Punjab Government gives 12%. But Panjab University followed none of the above, not even the 'lowest'.
The case will come up for further hearing on 11th March due to the advertisement dated 15 november 2023 for filling post of assistant professor was found to be against the directions issued by UGC on 19 october 2020 and instructions given by respondent union government on july 2, 1997.
The case is ongoing, and further updates will follow as the proceedings unfold.
