The senate meeting of Panjab University has been postponed to February 10 rather than it was earlier scheduled for December 29, 2023. The reason for postponing was the stay orders on PU Syndicate elections by the Punjab and Haryana High court.
As per some media reports an anonymous PU official claimed that the meeting is very important and the senate frames the policies in expectancy. He also added that such meetings discussing significant values should not be delayed. The official agenda of the meeting is not clear yet but most likely this senate meeting will be passing the budget of the session. In October, Panjab University's Board of Finance passed an estimate of rupees 752.2 crore for the session 2023-24 and expected estimation of rupees 789.6 crore for 2024-25.
However, the Vice-chancellor Renu Vig has said, “We will hold a senate meeting this month and expect more clarity by Tuesday or Wednesday. Regarding dean elections, we will seek legal advice and proceed accordingly.”
