Protest by Punjab farmers lifted as CM Bhagwant Mann accepts several demands of farmers in a meeting held today
The meeting of the Kisan Union representatives with the CM Bhagwant Mann resulted in the government accepting several demands of the farmers and ultimately lifting the farmers protest at the Chandigarh-Mohali border.
After the meeting, Rural Development minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal came to address the farmers at the protest site and made the farmers aware of the decisions during the meeting.
The conclusions from today's meeting are that for sowing of the paddy crop Punjab will be divided into 2 zones and the new dates for sowing of the paddy are June 14 and June 17. The notification for MSP of green gram has been issued at Rs 7,275 per quintal.
The issue to make the Punjab Farmers debt-free was also raised and a positive response from the government was received.
The rest of the decisions including the wheat bonus will be announced later after the meeting of Punjab CM with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
