Panjab University theft cases became a new trend. Although in the past, when Police grabbed some PU students who were drug addicts and did theft, it felt that theft cases now might decrease, but then another thieves started targeting mobile phones and other essentials from the activa and cars parked in parking not even in PU campus, but also in PGI and sector 15.
Yesterday a cunning thief was apprehended by the Chandigarh police, who was involved in multiple mobile theft incidents at Panjab University, PGI, and Sector-15. Interestingly, this thief used to ride a bicycle worth Rs. 50,000 to commit these thefts.
Ten stolen mobile phones have been recovered from the suspect, out of which three were stolen from the same location. The culprit has been identified as Munna (22), originally from Gopalganj district in Bihar. Despite having his fingers on his left hand cut off, he managed to carry out mobile thefts while riding a bicycle.
The arrest of the suspect took place near the Botanical Garden in Sarangpur. During the investigation, Sarangpur Police Station in-charge, Harmandeep Singh, apprehended the accused. It was discovered that the expensive bicycle the suspect used for reaching the crime scenes was also stolen. The accused used to reside at the PGI bus shelter.
A similar incident happened where Police have arrested a security guard, Suresh Kumar (37) , who works at the Sector-43 ISBT, for breaking into a student’s car on the Panjab University (PU) campus on July 10 and stealing a wallet that have cash around 2500. He is also a drug addict but he is not involved in any of the previous theft case.
