In a major announcement today, Supreme court bans the conversion of independent houses into apartments, the decision will be applicable to sector 1 to 30 in Phase-I, Chandigarh which was declared as a heritage zone. The apartments in Phase-I are also declared illegal.
According to the decision taken, all the existing apartments now cannot be resold as their MoU's also declared illegal.
As per sources, the case was filled by the people who wanted to purchase property as most of the people bought the independent houses and reconstructed them floor wise and resold them share wise per floor. The Ground floor and basement used to be counted as 50% share while the first floor was 30% and second floor as 20%.
