A comprehensive mobility report has been finalized by the UT which will be submitted to the centre in the upcoming week.
A bus corridor is a public transit system in which the buses follow the routes with enhanced infrastructure to reduce the delays.
The report on Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) has been finalised after taking the suggestions from the stakeholders . The report has been prepared by the Rail India Technical and Economic service. For the final approval, this report will be send to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in the upcoming week.
Along with the bus corridors the administration is also planning to develop Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) in two phases. From 2027 - 2037 i.e. in the first phase MRTS has been proposed on three routes : Sarangpur to ISBT Panchkula; Rock Garden to ISBT Zirakpur via Industrial Area and Chandigarh Airport; and from Grain Market Chowk to Transport Nagar, Sector 26. After more than a decade this report is going to pave the way for metro or metrolite network for the tricity .
During the meeting Manohar Lal Khattar, the Chief Minister of Haryana also suggested to connect Pinjore and Kalka with Chandigarh under this MRTS plan as it will ease travelling for a large number of people.
