Northern India is currently experiencing severe heatwave conditions, with temperatures soaring to unprecedented levels in some regions. While cities grapple with scorching heat, there are contrasting weather phenomena observed in other areas, such as Himachal Pradesh.
Regions like Manali and Rohtang Pass have experienced heavy snowfall. This unexpected weather event has attracted tourists and provided relief to locals from the sweltering heat. But on the other hand, Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions prevailed over many parts of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and in some parts of Bihar, East Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Jharkhand.
The highest maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 48.3°C at Sri Ganganagar in West Rajasthan, marking the highest temperature across the country. With this, heavy rainfall over Sub-Himalayan area covering West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam, and heavy rainfall at isolated places over Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Kerala, and Arunachal Pradesh was observed.
Hailstorm was reported at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir and Uttarakhand. This diversity of climatic changes over various geographical areas impact the life of residents and according to the department of climatic studies, these conditions will become severe.
