UT Traffic Reforms: All the major roads of Chandigarh to be made as no stopping and no parking zones. Also, get speed related info on Google Maps while driving in Chandigarh
All the major roads of Chandigarh which includes the Dakshina, Jana, Udyog-Sarovar, Himalaya and Purva Margs will now be treated as no parking and no stopping zones, and challan will be issued for not following the orders. This decision was taken in a meeting of the District Road Level Safety Council on Wednesday, presided by Dharam Pal, Advisor to the Administrator.
Also, reflective tapes will be installed around all the roundabouts to have a better visibility of these at night. Table tops will also be made in accident prone areas.
To curb speed related accidents, Traffic Police Chandigarh has collaborated with Google Maps. This collaboration will enable drivers and commuters to see all the speed limits, their real time speed and current traffic status in the city.
Google Navigation and Google Maps for mobile users will be able to see the speed limits and their real time speeds at the bottom of the screen. This will not only prevent accidents, but also educate outsiders of the speed limits in the city, according to Traffic Police.
